Cities & local policies key to overcome hunger, stresses head of UN
The Director General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization(FAO), Jose Graziano da Silva, expressed the need for multi-stakeholder, innovative partnerships to combat malnutrition and hunger. Addressing mayors and representatives from around the world, Mr. Graziano highlighted his experience with Brazil’s Zero Hunger Program that incorporated cities across the country to help 40 million people access healthy food and overcome hunger. Additionally, FAO supports governments in creating a dialogue about the importance of developing food system improvements among parliamentarians, farmers, and local leaders.
