Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources
Our earth is unique because of our oceans. All life depends on water. Oceans connect nations through networks of trade and transportation. Marine habitats are responsible for providing biodiversity, food supply, oxygen, and even moderating climate and weather. Nearly half of the world’s population relies on marine ecosystems for their main sources of protein. Overfishing, pollution, destruction of marine and coastal habitats, and other human activities are adversely impacting sustainable development.
With life below water we must conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources

Ocean conservation is important for reducing poverty and improving health. Marine ecosystems are major suppliers of food as well as providing employment opportunities connected with fishing and tourism that are essential for human livelihood. Gender equality is strengthened through the availability of jobs for women that are employed by marine commerce and fishing. Oceans naturally remove pollution and waste from our planet. Preserving marine environments is essential in maintaining a healthy climate. Stabilizing marine habitats to protect marine biodiversity around coral reefs and other fragile ecosystems require immediate intervention.
