UN Assembly President sounds Nasdaq bell; for endangered ocean

UN Assembly President emphasizes SDGs as a way to eliminate poverty and protect environment.

 

Peter Thomson, President of the United Nations General Assembly, called attention to the damage being done to oceans. At the start of the trading day in New York, Mr. Thomson said, “The Ocean is in trouble.” Participating in the daily ceremony of ringing the Nasdaq bell, he reminded ceremony attendees of the upcoming Ocean Conference in June. Additionally, he stated the importance of contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for humanity’s sake and to help preserve endangered ocean.
