Sustainable Development Goal #7 Affordable Clean Energy
Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all
Renewable energy holds the promise for a sustainable world with greater productivity and access to better jobs. Energy production from clean sources can reverse climate change. Lack of electrification in rural and developing areas decreases productivity. Opportunities to solve multiple sustainable development goals (SDGs) are enhanced by clean and renewable sources of energy.

Why It Matters

Nations depend on the consistent and ever available supply of energy. Without access to electricity, economic development stagnates. At current levels, projections for future energy needs surpass available supplies. Electrification enables women and girls to work or attend school instead of spending hours in search of water. More businesses and jobs exist in areas with access to electricity.
