UN designates 2021-2030 ‘Decade of Ocean Science’

SDGs urge action for conservation and sustainable use of marine resources.

 

More than three billion people on the planet rely on oceans for their livelihoods. According to the  United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), a new campaign focusing on improved science and research efforts from 2021-2030 will help promote the ‘Decade of Ocean Science for   Sustainable Development  .’ Multiple stakeholders from a variety of general science, ocean science and technological backgrounds are required to advance data collection and analysis. Additionally, major financial support is essential to strengthen vulnerable small island states and developing countries.
